SUMMARY:IEEE CSR 2022
DESCRIPTION:ResilTech participated in the “IEEE International Conference on Cyber Security and Resilience 2022” which took place in a virtual environment from the 27th to the 29th of July. This event focused on theoretical and practical aspects of the security and resilience of physical cyber systems to face the exploitation of weaknesses and vulnerabilities for performing cyber-attacks. The goal of the conference was to present strategies\, methods\, and techniques for counteract the impact of attacks that exploit the inherent complexity and heterogeneity of Cyber Physical Systems\, in order to exhibit resilience and avoid potentially uncontrolled cascading effects. \nEnrico Schiavone presented the paper “Modelling and Assessing the Risk of Cascading Effects with ResilBlockly”. In this paper\, after a study on the state of the art and a comparison among different methodologies\, the adopted approach for the analysis of cascading effects is reported. The methodology has been implemented in a MDE tool\, ResilBlockly\, that has been introduced during the presentation. A specific version of this tool (called MBDA) has been implemented in the 7SHIELD project in the work package regarding Prevention and Preparedness tools and has been integrated in the 7SHIELD platform. \nThe MBDA tool enables the creation of a model of the infrastructure\, using a UML Profile created during the project\, ad hoc for Ground Segment of Space (GSS) systems. This profile permits to create a model using concepts and classes specific of the ground segment context. The methodology of analysis of cascading effects is applied to the model infrastructure and produces a dependency graph that models the dependencies among the assets of the model. From the dependency graph some risk measures are evaluated in relation with the occurrence of a cyber physical threat on some impacted assets. \nThe presentation of the paper was followed by questions inherently the likelihood of physical attacks and the complex of chain of dependencies that can be represented in the tool.
