SUMMARY:ICONHIC 2022
DESCRIPTION:A landmark event in infrastructure resilience\, ICONHIC2022\, took place on the 5-7 of July in Athens as an in-person event fostering dialogue and interaction between technical consultants\, infrastructure contractors and operators\, R&D providers\, insurance and reinsurance firms\, and Financial Institutions\, International Organizations\, and infrastructure investors. \nSatways Ltd participated both in the Exhibition as well as in the Conference part of the event.  Several focused presentations made in the booth of Satways\, through which we had the chance to showcase how R&D can be exploited to develop sustainable\, commercial\, and operational solutions for managing natural disasters and reinforcing the resilience of critical entities. The demonstrations and presentations comprised the following systems developed by Satways\, which are devoted to support and strengthen the protection of critical infrastructures: \n\nCIRP (Critical Infrastructure Resilience Platform)\, an IT system that allows consequence analysis for CIs combining natural risk and impact analysis models according appropriate and properly set workflows. A particular version of CIRP is delivered in 7SHIELD\, aiming to support the CI operators in their tasks related to the preparedness phase. CIRP consider also the integration of natural and artificial risks\, enabling the operators to assess the combined risk using appropriate “what-if” scenarios.\nENGAGE\, a command and control platform with incident management capabilities\, which allows the operators to merge information and fuse data from a variety of sources. Satways contributes a specific version of ENGAGE\, ENGAGE CSIM\, to 7SHIELD. This is a multi-user\, multi-role\, multi-agency solution with a versatile modular architecture\, supporting physical and cyber-related security data and tools\, and bringing a great value to the ones aiming to achieve high levels of centralized operations.\nMotus and G-sense components. These are innovative devices developed by Satways in order to support rapid assessment of damages caused by earthquakes to buildings and infrastructures.\n\nThe above let Satways to present during ICONHIC22 a holistic solution for the protection of critical infrastructures\, similar to the one offered in 7SHIELD\, although focused on the case of natural hazards and earthquakes in particular. The demos of the above mentioned components and the presentation of the CIP solutions attracted the interest of the visitors and practitioners of the event\,  giving Satways the opportunity to present and disseminate the R&D work concerning the 7SHIELD project.

SUMMARY:CERIS INFRA 2022
DESCRIPTION:CERIS INFRA 2022 workshop: How research supports the directive on the resilience of critical entities \nOn July 12th\, the EC organized in Brussels the workshop of CERIS INFRA “How research supports the directive on the resilience of critical entities”. Within the framework of this workshop\, a panel session “Resilience enhancing research – examples from new sectors covered by the (Critical Entities Resilience) CER Directive” took place\, during which Satways Ltd has been invited to contribute to the discussion based on research inputs and findings from the 7SHIELD project. \nGeorge Eftychidis\, from Satways R&D Dept. presented the overall approach and the objectives of 7SHIELD project\, focusing to the relation of the project with the new European CER Directive under development. The presentation highlighted the following aspects: \n\nThe 7SHIELD tools and solutions that are developed for the direct benefit of the operators and the public agencies\nThe adopted Standardization framework\, which is implemented within the project\nThe 7SHIELD platforms created for information and data sharing.\n\nFurther to the above\, more details have been provided to some of the solutions offered/developed by Satways in the project\, and more specifically the CIRP-RAT and the ENGAGE CSIM. \nThe presentation and the questions raised by the EC officers in charge for issuing the new directive concluded that 7Shield is aligned with the EC’s approach for integrating the management of cyber and physical threats using a unified conceptual framework and an interoperable command and control platform.

SUMMARY:ICECET 2022
DESCRIPTION:From 20 to 22 July\, our partner INOV was attending the International Conference on Electrical\, Computer and Energy Technologies (ICECET)\, which will take place in Prague\, Czech Republic. \nICECET is a multidisciplinary\, peer-reviewed international conference that provides a forum for the exchange of latest technical information\, the dissemination of the high-quality research results\, the presentation of the new developments in the area\, and the debate and shaping of future directions and priorities. ICECET aims to bring together leading academic scientists\, researchers and research scholars to exchange and share their experiences and research results on all aspects of Electrical\, Computer and Energy Technologies. \nINOV partner presented their work Study on the Application of Efficient Det to Real-Time Classification of Infrared Images from Video Surveillance.

SUMMARY:IEEE CSR 2022
DESCRIPTION:ResilTech participated in the “IEEE International Conference on Cyber Security and Resilience 2022” which took place in a virtual environment from the 27th to the 29th of July. This event focused on theoretical and practical aspects of the security and resilience of physical cyber systems to face the exploitation of weaknesses and vulnerabilities for performing cyber-attacks. The goal of the conference was to present strategies\, methods\, and techniques for counteract the impact of attacks that exploit the inherent complexity and heterogeneity of Cyber Physical Systems\, in order to exhibit resilience and avoid potentially uncontrolled cascading effects. \nEnrico Schiavone presented the paper “Modelling and Assessing the Risk of Cascading Effects with ResilBlockly”. In this paper\, after a study on the state of the art and a comparison among different methodologies\, the adopted approach for the analysis of cascading effects is reported. The methodology has been implemented in a MDE tool\, ResilBlockly\, that has been introduced during the presentation. A specific version of this tool (called MBDA) has been implemented in the 7SHIELD project in the work package regarding Prevention and Preparedness tools and has been integrated in the 7SHIELD platform. \nThe MBDA tool enables the creation of a model of the infrastructure\, using a UML Profile created during the project\, ad hoc for Ground Segment of Space (GSS) systems. This profile permits to create a model using concepts and classes specific of the ground segment context. The methodology of analysis of cascading effects is applied to the model infrastructure and produces a dependency graph that models the dependencies among the assets of the model. From the dependency graph some risk measures are evaluated in relation with the occurrence of a cyber physical threat on some impacted assets. \nThe presentation of the paper was followed by questions inherently the likelihood of physical attacks and the complex of chain of dependencies that can be represented in the tool.
