Workshop “Leveraging EU Infrastructure”
On October 19th, 7SHIELD’s project was referenced during the EC workshop “Leveraging EU infrastructure in Europe” within the e-shape general assembly (https://e-shape.eu/index.php/general-assembly). Session aimed to identify bottlenecks to the uptake of PaaS for EO applications and how to deepen the dialogue between applications and Infrastructure providers. It was a great opportunity to bridge EO communities gathering latest evolutions and exchanging on challenges like security on the cloud.
Since the ONDA DIAS design phase, our goal has been building a unique one-stop environment where the Earth Observation and Research communities could find an unprecedented Data offer as well as reliable and cost-effective Cloud Resources to develop services. In line with EC and ESA visions, over the last 2 years, ONDA DIAS has moved beyond services addressed in the DIAS baseline requirements, by implementing additional capabilities for its users and fill the gap between supply and demand.
Latest cloud evolutions and feedbacks from customers have been combined to provide fit for purpose services as CLEOPE (CLoud Earth Observation Processing Environment), an interactive web-based platform via Jupyter Notebooks configured with pre-installed libraries to enhance user experience with ONDA. In the frame of Destination Earth and Digital Twin Earth, respectively the EC and ESA new flagship Space programs, ONDA has developed MOST (Manage Onda Storage) to optimize massive data access, improve productivity while reducing cost and removing technical barriers.
Nevertheless, Digital transformation, combined with a rapid explosion of technologies, has paved the way to greater vulnerabilities and newer forms of threats for Space infrastructure. Against this backdrop, the EC funded 7Shield’s project adopt new technologies and methods for responding to the threats. A specific pilot is run to simulate cyber-attacks on ONDA DIAS and build capabilities to defend digital infrastructure.
ONDA DIAS continue being at the cutting edge of the technology to respond to market needs while ensuring, thanks to 7Shield, the mandatory level of security to stay one step ahead of cyber criminals.
